The Wall

I've got one. I know a lot of women out there have one, for whatever reason. It goes up far easier than it comes down. And once its up it often stays there for extended periods of time.

My wall very very rarely comes down, mainly because I don't let it. As convoluted as it may be it is just easier to keep it up, not let people in and not have them hurt me somewhere along the way. And let's be honest here, by "them" I mainly mean men. I've been bit far more than I've not been bit. Yeah yeah, thats the risk I have to take: let the wall down and take a chance.

My wall is back up. I let it down, fell and fell hard then got kicked in the gut. Its up and its staying there for awhile. It was fun while it was down. I was happier. However, for now I'm willing to sacrifice that extra bit of happiness for the safety that comes with being behind my wall.

I'm now off to Walmart for a supply of chocolate to take to work with me. The girl I'm working with is going through a bit of the same thing I am. We're going to need some of the bad-for-us goodness!

  1. Awww {{{HUGS}}} Erin. I hope the chocolate helps both of you!

I wish my predictions were wrong. He had some warning signs in the beginning. There were some really great things about him, but they weren't lasting.

    You deserve much better!!!!

  2. Thanks, Mel! I guess I just didn't see the warning signs. Many of my friends are convinced I'll hear from him eventually at some point. If that happens I'll decide from there. I've not yet hit the angry stage, I'm still sad. If he were to call right now I don't think I'd be able to NOT go running back to him. I'm not there yet.

We ate ourselves silly on gummies and chocolate! Though with two weddings going on at work tonight, I'm not sure it did either of us any good.

  3. Boy do I know all about that wall! And how hard it is to take it down, but when one comes along that is worthy of you, you won't even know the wall is down, it just will be :)

  5. Oh, Mel...chocolate covered gummy bears?! HEAVEN! I had to settle for chocolate AND gummy bears. Individually, quite yummy (and oh so bad for me), I can only imagine what they're like as one!
